The Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia has already been named one of the best new hotels in the world, but its latest accolade has cemented its status as a premiere destination.
Forbes Travel Guide has awarded the Four Seasons its coveted five star rating, an honor only the top luxury hotels earn. The Forbes staff visit hotels anonymously, using their experience to grade the hotel on 900 standards. Five stars indicate a hotel that is not only luxurious and iconic, but also offers virtually flawless service. Only one other Pennsylvania hotel, the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Falling Rock, has a five star rating from Forbes.
“To get an award like this is humbling,” said Ben Shank, general manager for the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.
“You get the goosebumps thinking about what our team has achieved,” he went on later. “It’s such a tough accolade to have achieved and to have done it in less than a year — I’m just really proud of the team.”
Shank was one of the first employees at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, and saw the project come to life. “All these really world class collaborators came together to build something special,” he said of the hotel.
He hopes that the five star rating, along with the hotel’s work with medical experts to come up with health and safety protocols for travel during the COVID-era, will help give confidence to future customers that staying at the Four Seasons is an opportunity not to be missed.

The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia also was granted a five star rating from Forbes, one of less than 100 spas to have the honor. The spa offers a variety of treatments, as well as a steam room, ice fountain, infinity pool and dry sauna. It also has 700 pounds of crystals in its walls to add to the therapeutic atmosphere.
The Four Seasons team isn’t resting on its laurels though.
“We’re only as good as we were yesterday,” Shank said. “We now need to keep charging ahead.”
