If you think of Walt Disney World as a kid’s vacation, you are not alone. Sure, soaring over London in Peter Pan’s Flight or spinning on Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland is fun for kids, but adults enjoy classic rides too. Disney World is for kids, and kids at heart. But remember, adults are not limited to traditional Disney attractions on vacation.
In fact, there are plenty of activities at Walt Disney World Resort that are geared toward adults. If you are looking for a perfect couples trip, a fun spot for a friend’s vacation, or looking for a vacation spot with adult family members — Walt Disney World Resort is a great option. No kids? No problem! Here are our great ideas for an adults-only trip to Walt Disney World!
Wine and Dine
Disney dining is next level, so foodies will love a Disney vacation. Team up with other foodies for a dining-focused trip and book advance dining reservations for a yummy table service meal or stop at every quick-service eatery and Park stand that strikes your fancy.
You should consider planning your vacation during an EPCOT festival to enjoy even more eats. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, International Festival of the Holidays, International Festival of the Arts, or the International Flower & Garden Festival all offer unique eats. You can buy tasting plates and cups of different specialty food and libations from around the world. World Showcase is always a hot spot to taste new-to-you cuisine, but this is even more true at festival time, when new countries are represented around the Park.
Splurge On a Disney Resort
A Disney Hotel is so much more than just a place to stay. The theming, luxury, fun, food, pools, and more make them an activity within themselves. Why not stay at a moderate resort like Caribbean Beach Resort, right on the Disney Skyliner stop? If you are traveling with an adult friend group and want a unique experience, why not group up and try a Tree House Villa at Saratoga Springs Resort?
Fun value Resort options at Disney’s Pop Century Resort or an All-Star Resort are a great way to save some cash for other Disney experiences while still staying in the middle of the magic. If your budget will allow, and a Deluxe Resort is on your Disney bucket list, take the plunge and book it! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is a stunning Resort within a stone’s throw of Animal Kingdom, where you can animal watch from your balcony while you enjoy an African wine from Victoria Falls Lounge.
If a Magic Kingdom view is calling your name, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are all excellent choices. Those searching for a rustic vibe will love the grand and beautiful Wilderness Lodge. This spot is just a short boat ride from the Magic Kingdom.
EPCOT fans will adore the walkable distance from The Yacht Club, Beach Club, or BoardWalk Inn. Get the most for your money by planning a Disney Resort day, where you can enjoy every detail of your stay.
Take Your Time
Adults-only trips to Disney World are great because plans can be as loose or as rigid as you need. As a childless Disney adult, I love the freedom to take my time in each Disney Park. If I want to saunter along World Showcase with a cocktail all afternoon or linger over dinner, that is absolutely fine. No kids mean I can take breaks when I want, but do not have to leave for breaks during nap time or leave the Parks for an early bedtime.
Or Go Hard
By the same token, adults-only Disney trips are great because I can go hard in the Parks if I choose. Early morning at Magic Kingdom to rope drop Space Mountain? Absolutely! Cashing in on those late-night extra magic hours the same day at Hollywood Studios? Heck yes!
When you go to Disney Parks kid-free, you have the freedom to see as much or as little as you choose. Staying at the Parks late to enjoy shorter ride wait times is a vacation favorite for my husband and me.
Guests traveling with little ones may be less likely to book a fine dining experience. Adults-only vacations mean meals at delicious spots like Topolino’s Terrace, Teppan Edo Japanese Steakhouse, or Chefs De France. Take your time enjoying each course and cocktails. If you are looking for elite dining experiences, fun extras like firework dessert parties, or cuisine guides to Disney World, check out our collection of articles to choose the perfect dining experience for your Walt Disney World vacation.
Why not fill an afternoon and evening with food and drink fun and organize an informal bar crawl with your travel crew? A Disney Skyliner Bar Crawl at spots like Art of Animation, Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, and Pop Century Resort or a monorail bar crawl at Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village Resort, and Contemporary Resort are great adults-only activities to enjoy with friends. You’ll get a taste of different Disney Resorts, tasty appetizers, and yummy beverages while you unwind and enjoy the ambiance.

Play at Disney Springs
Who said you need a theme park ticket to have fun? If shopping, drinking, and dining are on your vacation checklist, you need a day at Disney Springs! Enjoying all that this spot has to offer is a no-brainer for an adults-only Disney trip.
Between shops like World of Disney, Tommy Bahama, Columbia, and Lilly Pulitzer, you can visit chocolate shops like the Ganachery, nosh on cookies from Gideon’s Bakehouse, and sip cocktails from food trucks in the Florida sun. Taste Coca-Cola from around the globe at a rooftop bar, watch live music, and enjoy iced coffee while you stroll the three sections of Disney Springs.
If you are ready for a little friendly competition, hit the Splitsville Luxury Lanes for beer and bowling with your buddies. If you have been waiting to catch the newest movie that was released, head to AMC DINE-IN Theatre for a movie. If live entertainment is more your speed, snag tickets to Cirque du Soleil’s Drawn to Life or mosey over to House of Blues. Disney Springs is the perfect spot for adult travelers.
See, Disney is not just for the kids! That said, adults should feel free to embrace their inner kids on vacay. Scream through a ride on Expedition Everest, hug your favorite character, and wear those Minnie ears proudly. Between the awesome eats, fun rides, stunning resorts, tasty cocktails, and fun extras, this might just be your best vacation yet!
